The Fatehgarh Sahib police Wednesday arrested three members of the extortion gang which was involved in an attack on businessman on November 11.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dr Ravjot Grewal, said that on November 11, Amandeep Singh of Mandi Gobindgarh informed the police that when he reached near Dussehra ground in his Innova car, three men came there on a motorcycle, which was without a number plate. They were carrying weapons.
When he turned his car back, he was attacked by those men. He drove back fast towards his house and entered the house, leaving the car outside. The accused attacked the car and damaged it. They used abusive language and gave him life threats. The video in this regard too has gone viral.
A case was registered at Mandi Gobindgarh police station. SSP Grewal said that under the supervision of SP (Investigation) Rakesh Yadav and DSP, Amloh, Gurdeep Singh, various teams were formed under the leadership of Inspector Arshdeep Sharma, Mandi Gobindgarh SHO for the investigation of the case.
After the investigation of the CCTV footage and call details, it came to light that Taranpreet Singh alias Taran alias Titli, who was wanted in a criminal case, received a message from Sandeep Singh alias Boxer, the accused who is logged in jail in the same case, that after attacking Amandeep Singh and Akashdeep Singh, businessmen of Mandi Gobindgarh. A ransom money should be demanded from them.
Tarnpreet Singh alias Tarn alias Titli resident of Faizgarh, police station Sadar Khanna, Amrit Singh resident of Basant Nagar Khanna, and Gurdeep Singh alias Deepa resident of Ratanheri, Police Station City-1 Khanna.
Accused were arrested after the addition of Section 308(7) BNS for extortion in the registered case.
Dr. Ravjot Grewal disclosed that 01 pistol (Desi Katta), 01 sword, and 01 gandasi were recovered from the possession of the arrested accused. On the basis of which Section 25/54/59 of the Arms Act was added in the case.
During the investigation, it had come to light that this gang, along with their accused companions in jail, used to demand extortion from the businessmen of Mandi Gobindgarh. It is also expected that more important revelations would be made during the investigation.
