Neelam Kothari, who was a big Bollywood star in the 1980s and 1990s and was recently seen in the Netflix reality show Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, opened up about the time when she had a massive fight with her husband Samir Soni and her friend, producer Ekta Kapoor. Neelam shared that the fight was about an intimate scene that Samir was required to do on a show, which was being produced by Ekta. Neelam said that this resulted in a huge fight between her and Ekta where they didn’t speak to each other for 3-4 months.
When Neelam was asked about her stance on intimate scenes now, she shared that now, she is okay with it. She recalled the episode in a chat with Zoom, “I am very possessive about my husband. I got to know that he had some intimate scenes, which is fine. I didn’t know to what extent those scenes were and Ekta happened to be the producer of that show. So I didn’t speak to Ekta for almost 3-4 months because we had this rip-roaring fight.”
Recalling their fight, Neelam said, “I was like ‘How could you make my husband do this?’ And she was like ‘Didn’t your husband read the script before doing it?’ So there was this rift that happened.” She added that things are fine now and shared, “It’s over now. I have also learnt my lesson that it is his profession. There are certain scenes that an actor has to do which is absolutely fine. Now, I am okay with it. After many fights, and that to fighting with my best friend and my husband at the same time. I have learnt my lesson, zip it.”
In an earlier chat with GPlus, Samir had spoken about the incident and said that he already told Neelam about her intimate scenes and sought permission from her before taking the project. “Apparently one of her friends had seen the show and she had instigated her, ‘How could you let your husband do something like this?’ and all that. I told her that I showed her the script. At this point of time, I can’t say no to producers because they had already given me the script and I can’t say no to my wife,” he said.
