For a few years now, Excel Entertainment and Prime Video have had a rather fruitful collaboration experimenting with the OTT space to deliver disruptive content. They have worked together on premier series like Inside Edge, Mirzapur, Made In Heaven, Dahaad, and Bambai Meri Jaan. Even on the film front, Excel Entertainment’s Hello Charlie was a direct release on Prime Video. The latest offering from this collaboration is National Award winner Rahul Dholakia’s gritty film, Agni, which is based on the life of firefighters.
Written and directed by Rahul, the film features Pratik Gandhi, Divyenndu in the lead roles. In the trailer, which was launched today, we see the lives of Pratik, who plays a firefighter, and Divyenndu, who plays a cop, intertwine inexplicably. From the rushes, it is clear that the film is set to be a tribute to the firefighters who brave it all, and yet aren’t recognised by the society. There are brief detours into the problems faced by firefighters while doing their duties, and the risks involved due to simple cases of carelessness and negligence.
Here’s the Agni trailer:
Talking about the film, Rahul, in a statement, said, “I’m thrilled to bring a story to life that not only celebrates the bravery of our firefighters but also delves into their emotional journeys. This story is a tribute to their sacrifice, loyalty, resilience, and I hope it inspires audiences to recognise and appreciate these selfless protectors in our society.”
Pratik, who is reuniting with his Madgaon Express team of Excel Entertainment, Prime Video, and Divyenndu, said, “Agni holds a special place in my heart. Delving into the emotional and physical challenges faced by these brave souls has been a transformative experience for me as an actor in a once-in-a-lifetime role.” Sharing the sentiments, Divyenndu wrote, “This fictional film represents more than just an engaging story, but is something meaningful for me to be a part of. I consider this a significant shift in my career as I take on a character to showcase a hero’s personal sacrifices, beyond just their uniforms. It has enabled me to explore new depths of my craft that are raw and emotional.”
The film, which also features Saiyami Kher, Sai Tamhankar, Jitendra Joshi, Udit Arora, and Kabir Shah in pivotal roles, is set to begin streaming on Prime Video on December 6.
