Based in Haridwar, Tanishka cleared the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Undergraduate (NEET-UG) in 2024 on her first attempt. She scored 690 and is now pursuing an MBBS from the Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida. The 18-year-old wanted to become a doctor and her parents’ constant support helped her crack NEET.
“This shared dream always motivated me to do my best, especially when I thought I could not. Sometimes exam pressure or not scoring marks in the coaching tests, made me feel bad, but seeing myself as a doctor in that white coat always encouraged me to go beyond these failures,” said the girl who completed her Class 11 and 12 from NIOS.
The journey of becoming a doctor started in Haridwar, where she dreamt of it. Later, during her school days, she shifted to Kota and joined Allen Institute for preparation. She now resides in her college hostel in Noida.
“In the morning, I had my coaching classes. Then I used to rest for some time, followed by revision of three to four hours of the topics taught in the classes. After devoting time to revision, I used to solve some exercises and modules shared by my teacher. After completing them, I used to revise and practice the previous year’s questions and topics,” she said.
After completion of the chapter, Tanishka used to make her short notes using mnemonics. Through this, she was able to revise better and retain for a longer duration of time.
Sharing how she attempted questions in the examination, she said that she used to solve questions in two rounds. “In the first round, I used to solve easy questions that I was confident about. In the second round, I used to solve difficult or higher-level thinking questions. I am not sure whether this would help other students, but this approach helped me in the examination and I was able to attempt the paper in a timely manner,” she said.
