The Pune city traffic control branch have notified several key traffic changes and diversions for the heavy vehicles and buses to avoid congestion due to ongoing construction of a flyover at Katraj Chowk. The traffic changes came into force on Tuesday — when the segment launching of the overbridge will begin –and will remain in place until further notice from the police.
A notification in this regard was issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (traffic) Amol Zende. All the previous traffic changes at Katraj Chowkwill be replaced by this order, the notification said. Officials said the steps are being taken to avoid heavy traffic congestion that may take place due to ongoing infrastructure work for the segment launching of the Katraj Chowk overbridge.
The traffic changes will be applicable for dumper trucks, cement mixer carrier, heavy goods vehicles, trailers, containers and multi-axle vehicles.
Vehicles coming from Satara via the old Katraj tunnel route will not be allowed to enter the Shindewadi bridge. Vehicles coming from Satara via the new Katraj tunnel road will not be allowed to enter Navale bridge.
Vehicles coming from Mumbai via Warje on the Katraj Chowk route will not be allowed to enter Navale bridge. Vehicles coming from Solapur via Hadapsar on the Mantarwadi road to Katraj Chowk will not be allowed entry beyond Mantarwadi Chowk. Vehicles traveling from Saswad via Mantarwadi on the Katraj Chowk route will not be allowed entry beyond Mantarwadi Chowk.
Vehicles coming from Bopdev Ghat to Katraj Chowk will not be allowed entry beyond Khadi Machine Chowk. Vehicles coming from Market Yard, Gangadham Bibwewadi to Katraj Chowk will not be allowed entry beyond Iskcon Temple Chowk. Vehicles from Swargate towards Satara will not be allowed entry.
Local heavy vehicles in the areas of Mantarwadi, Undri, and Pisoli will have access from 10 pm to 4 am. However, they will not be allowed beyond Iskcon Temple Chowk towards Katraj Chowk. These changes and diversions will also be applicable for MSRTC and private buses.
Buses travelling from Mumbai via Warje-Katraj Chowk route will not be allowed to proceed beyond Navale Bridge. Buses coming from Satara towards Swargate should proceed to the right from Navale Bridge and the proceed to Swargate via Katraj. These routes can also be used by buses on Sinhagad Road.
Residents of Mangdewadi, Dattawadi, Hadewadi, and the Katraj areas traveling towards Swargate should avoid heading to Katraj Chowk and use other available alternative routes.
