After US President-elect Donald Trump won the race to the White House again in November, the Time magazine is all set to announce the Republican as the “Person of the Year” 2024, according to reports.
To celebrate the event and unveil the cover of the magazine, Trump is all set to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday morning when the stock market opens, reported CNN quoting sources.
In 2023, it was pop star Taylor Swift who was named as the “Person of the Year” and Time CEO Jessica Sibley had rung the opening bell of the stock exchange.
Trump has earlier been named as the Time “Person of the Year” in 2016 when he first won the US presidential election and defeated Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. If finalized, Trump would be getting the recognition twice and this time around for the remarkable resurgence to win with a thumping majority.
Time magazine has already announced Athlete of the Year as NBA star Caitlin Clark, Icon of the Year as Elton John, CEO of the Year as Lisa Su of Advanced Micro Devices.
According to the Time magazine’s website, the shortlist for the “Person of the Year” 2024, includes Kamala Harris, Kate Middleton, Elon Musk, Benjamin Netanyahu, Donald Trump, Mark Zuckerberg, Yulia Navalnaya, Jerome Powell, Joe Rogan, Claudia Sheinbaum.
According to Politico, a spokesperson for the Time magazine said, “It does not comment on its annual choice for Person of the Year prior to publication. This year’s choice will be announced on Time.com on December 12.”
