12th Fail, Mirzapur, Heeramandi: Indian films and shows dominates Pak’s most-searched Google list; eight of top 10 content from India

Its that time of the year when Google releases its list of most-searched events, topics and personalities for different countries, and it recently released the data of 2024 searches by Pakistanis. The list included six categories: cricket, people, movies, drama, how to, recipes, and tech. Going by the data, it seems like India has been their top favourite search. Right from looking for Indian personalities like Mukesh Ambani, to searching details about Indian movies, the list is dominated by Indian content.

Movies and Drama

The top 10 searched movies and dramas by the Pakistanis this year included Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, Vikrant Massey’s 12th Fail, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, Manoj Bajpayee’s Mirzapur Season 3, Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2, Kartika Aryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki, and Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 17. The only two Pakistani shows that made it to top 10 were Ishq Murshid and Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum.

Personalities

The only Indian personality they looked for was Mukesh Ambani, who hosted the big, fat Indian wedding of his youngest son Anant Ambani. The business tycoon hosted a lavish three-day pre-wedding festivities in Jamnagar in the month of March. This event also marked the debut of Rihanna in India. The three-day festivities included business tycoons like Mark Zuckerburg, and Bill Gatesfrom, from across the world. The entire Bollywood attended the event and took part in the festivities. This was followed by a second pre-wedding party onboard a luxury cruise in May. This marked performances by Katy Perry and Backstreet Boys. The grand wedding concluded in July in Mumbai, including Mehendi, Haldi, and Sangeet. Anant and Radhika Merchant’s wedding was attended by Kim Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian, among others.

Other Indian stuff that had the Pakinstanis interested were several cricket matches involving India like India vs England, India vs South Africa.

A similar pattern of searches were also seen in the years 2023, where Pakistanis mostly looked for Jawan, Pathaan, Tiger 3, Gadar 2, Carry on Jatta 3, and Farzi. They even looked for personalities like Tiger Shroff, and Shubman Gill.
