Noida International Airport teams up with Mahindra to launch electric taxi service

The upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA) has collaborated with Mahindra Logistics Mobility on Thursday to introduce electric taxi services for passengers.

The 24/7 service will feature electric vehicles, ensuring that passengers experience a comfortable and environmentally friendly ride, a statement by the authorities read.

What are the features?

Passengers can expect premier pick-up and drop-off facilities at the arrival and departure kerbs, thereby saving walking distances and providing an added convenience. Bookings would be via a dedicated mobile app, website, call centre, airline alliances, and airport kiosks, the statement informed.

It uses an operational model that relies on real-time dynamic changes based on passenger demand and flight schedules to minimize waiting times and extend service periods. Drivers will also receive comprehensive training on airport protocols and customer service standards, allowing for quality interactions.

The alliance is in line with the airport’s net-zero emissions target. Christoph Schnellmann, Noida International Airport’s CEO, said, “At NIA, your journey will not end with baggage claim. We are excited to partner with Mahindra Logistics Mobility to offer a premium, all-electric taxi service, to provide a seamless and environment-friendly ride directly from the airport to your destination. This first-of-its-kind airport-branded cab service will set a new benchmark for passenger convenience and environmental responsibility. This partnership is also a testament to our commitment to providing a best-in-class passenger experience, from the moment they arrive at the airport to the moment they depart for their destination.”

In the first phase, the airport will have one runway and one terminal which will be able to handle 12 million passengers annually. When all four phases of development are completed, it will be able to handle up to 70 million passengers per year.

Developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, the airport is based on sustainable design and operational principles with a global perspective on environment standards.
