YouTube’s ‘auto dubbing’ tool now available for more creators; supports Hindi, 7 other languages

YouTube has rolled out a new feature that will be appreciated by creators across the world, which makes dubbing English videos to French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish as easy as pushing a virtual button. Similarly, if the video is in any of these languages, it can also be dubbed to English.

Creators can now access the new auto-dubbing feature from YouTube Studio. This is currently rolling out to those who are a part of the YouTube Partner Program, which mostly includes channels that create knowledge and information-related videos. The video streaming major has also confirmed that the feature will soon roll out to other types of content.

How to use YouTube’s auto dubbing feature?

Creators need to upload a video to YouTube like they normally do, and YouTube will automatically detect and prepare the dubbed versions. These can be accessed from the languages section in the YouTube Studio. From there, creators can playback the video to check everything sounds as intended, along with the option to unpublish and delete the dubbed videos. There is also an option where a creator can review the dubbed video before publishing.

When a YouTube video is dubbed using this feature, the video will be marked with an “auto-dubbed” label to keep the process transparent, and the audience can quickly switch between different language tracks as they do on Prime Video or Netflix.

YouTube’s auto-dubbing tool, formally known as Aloud, was in testing for a while, limited to select creators, and the dubbing was also limited from English to Spanish or Portuguese. With this expansion, more creators will be able to access the tool to quickly dub their content to more languages to increase its reach across the globe.
