The city of dreams, Mumbai, will host Cine Talkies 2024: Woods to Roots from December 13 to 15 at NSE at BKC.
In a press conference held on December 9, actor Sunil Barve said the event will have cinema at its core. He said instead of seeing cinema only as a tool for entertainment; the society should see it as an opportunity for education and reaching the masses. Barve added that there is a need for a platform where people engage in discourse about the academic, educational, and financial discussions about the Indian film industry. The press conference also included other notable names such as director Vipul Amrutal Shah and journalist Bharati Pradhan, among many more.
Veteran actor and director Sachin Pilgaonkar will be the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony on December 13, while the keynote address will be delivered by Abhijit Gokhale, the Akhil Bhartiya organising secretary for Sanskar Bharti.
The next day of the event will feature three different panel discussions on a diverse set of topics ranging from cinema as just a source of entertainment to the importance of the box office and how narratives are going back to local stories. The three sessions will be followed by a live performance of the play Punyashlok Lokmata starring Aditi Pulsatya.
The final day of Cine Talkies will include two separate sessions. The panel discussions will talk about how Indian cinema needs to acknowledge its roots to move forward and also the role of women in shaping the landscape of cinema.
This three-day celebration of cinema will include many prominent names such as Venkat K Narayan, founder of KVN Productions, actor and director Mrinal Dev Kulkarni, actor and producer Swapnil Joshi and renowned journalist Ramachandran Srinivasan, among many more.
