All set for Shaheedi Jor Mel: Admn doubles shuttle buses, stops

Around 4,000 police personnel will be deployed for the Shaheedi Jor Mel, one of Punjab’s largest religious gatherings, in Fatehgarh Sahib. The administration plans to increase the number of shuttle buses to ferry devotees during the three-day event starting December 26.

Rupnagar Range DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar and Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Ravjot Grewal held a meeting on Thursday with police officials at Bachat Bhawan to finalise preparations. Officers were urged to perform their duties with dedication.

The shuttle bus service will expand to eight boarding and alighting points, up from four last year. Police support centres and accommodations for the deployed force will also be set up.

DIG Bhullar appealed to langar organisers to avoid setting up food stalls on roads to ensure smooth movement of devotees. He also emphasised the importance of police personnel interacting with pilgrims with humility and urged public cooperation.
