At least six people, including a minor boy, were killed inside a private hospital in Tamil Nadu after a massive fire broke out. The incident took place in the Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu late on Thursday.
All six were found unconscious inside the lift of the building, the police and Fire Department said. They were rushed to another hospital where the doctors declared them dead. The victims had suffocated to death inside the lift as the Fire Department carried out search and rescue operations in the hospital.
The rescue teams ended up evacuating at least 30 patients and doctors from the building. The evacuated persons have been admitted in the district government hospital, officials said.
