Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: The national capital of Delhi is all set to face assembly elections in a couple of months and all stakeholders including incumbent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress have started their campaigns for securing victories. While the AAP and Congress have announced some candidates, BJP is still figuring out their list.
The AAP released its second list of candidates on Monday, December 9, 2024, comprising 20 names. The party fielded Manish Sisodia from Jangpura and Avadh Ojha from Patparganj. The party released its first list of 11 candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for February 2025.
The Congress on Thursday fielded former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit’s son Sandeep, who is also a former MP from East Delhi, against AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal from his home turf of New Delhi in the upcoming Assembly polls.
In addition to its current state president Devender Yadav, the list also has the names of two former Delhi ministers – Jai Kishan and Haroon Yusuf – along with former state unit president Chaudhary Anil Kumar, who filed the first criminal complaint against AAP leaders in regards to the excise policy case.

The BJP is likely to release its first list of 35 to 40 names in early December, according to party sources. While the entire list is likely to include “several young leaders” compared to its picks from the 2020 Assembly elections, its choice for the New Delhi Assembly constituency is likely to be the “most high-profile” among candidates for the city’s 70 constituencies, sources said.
Party insiders said the finalisation of names had picked up with discussions around them led by Baijayant Panda, the BJP in-charge for Delhi, the state leadership led by state unit president Virendra Sachdeva, and the local unit of the RSS.
