Eight boys from Mohali govt academy commissioned into Army, IAF

Eight alumni of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) in SAS Nagar (Mohali) were commissioned into the Indian Army and Air Force today.

Six of these officers—Kritin Gupta from Ludhiana district, Bhart Sharma and Sahildeep Singh from Amritsar, Sahilpreet Singh Sandhu from Patiala, Shiv Kumar from Kapurthala, and Uttam Malik from Bathinda—were commissioned into the Indian Army during the passing-out parade of the Indian Military Academy’s (IMA) 155 Regular Course in Dehradun. The parade was reviewed by Nepal Army Chief General Ashokraj Sigdel.

These cadets are from the 8th Course of MRSAFPI. They will soon join their respective units in the Indian Army.

Additionally, two other cadets from the institute, Gursher Singh Cheema from Sangrur district and Pratham Parmar from Kapurthala, were commissioned as Flying Officers in the Indian Air Force during the 214th Combined Passing-Out Parade of the Air Force Academy (AFA) in Dundigal. Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, Chief of the Indian Air Force, reviewed the parade.

Cabinet Minister for Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training, Aman Arora, congratulated the cadets on their commissioning and urged them to work hard to make Punjab proud.

Major General Ajay H. Chauhan (Retd), Director of MRSAFPI, also congratulated the cadets and called on them to uphold the ideals of the Defence Services.

With the commissioning of these eight officers, a total of 168 cadets from MRSAFPI have joined the Armed Forces of India since its inception.
