Kapil Sharma is more than often slammed for his jokes related to one’s appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show. Recently the comedian took a jibe at director-producer Atlee Kumar and Archana Puran Singh’s appearance on his show, which did not go down well with a section of people. Recently, the latest episode welcomed Baby John‘s team as esteemed guests, including Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Atlee.
During the season grand finale episode, Kapil subtly cracked a joke about Atlee’s looks. However, the Jawan director instantly clapped back with a savage response stating that appearance doesn’t matter. The host talked about how Atlee has become a big director and producer, especially after the success of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan.
He asked, “But, when you get to meet a star for the first time, do they ask, where is Atlee?” Atlee gave a classy reply and said, “In a way I understood your question. I’ll try to answer. I’m actually very thankful to AR Murugadoss sir because he produced my first film. He asked for a script, but he didn’t see how I was looking or whether I’m capable of it or not. But, he loved my narration. I think the world should see that. We should not judge by appearance. You have to judge by your heart.” The clip from the episode went viral on social media and Kapil is now facing backlash for his racist remarks.

In addition, as per usual, Kapil Sharma also took a dig at Archana Puran Singh. Atlee didn’t shy away from siding with her and requested the comedian not to make fun of her, calling Archana the show’s ‘saviour’ for him. Kapil introduced the director to her and said, “Her name is Archana Puran Singh because she is a great admirer of Daku Mohan Singh. There was a man in his gang inspired by which her name was kept,” after which everyone burst into laughter. However, Atlee said, “Don’t pull her leg, she is the only saviour of the show for me. Whenever she laughs, I am going to laugh, because I know nothing, I am waiting for her cue.” Archana instantly responded, “Well said Atlee, you and I are a team now.”
Meanwhile, Atlee Kumar turned producer as he is the co-producer of Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film Baby John. For the unversed, Baby John is an adaptation of his superhit film, Theri, with Thalapathy Vijay. Directed by Kalees, the action drama stars Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi in lead roles. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on December 25.
