The shooting in an American school in Madison, Wisconsin which left a teacher and a student dead was carried out by a 15-year-old student Natalie Rupnow, who went by the name Samantha.
Authorities have identified the teenage suspect, Natalie, who attended Abundant Life Christian School where she opened fire in a study hall on Monday killing two and injuring six others, Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes confirmed.
The police further added that the shooter was present in the school from the start of the day and died while on the way to a local hospital due to a self-inflicting gunshot. “The shooting happened inside a classroom in a study hall of students from mixed grades,” Barnes added.
The authorities are looking into whether Rupnow’s family, who are cooperating with the administration in the investigation, are the owners of the gun used in the crime. They are looking into the things she might have left behind.
Police further informed that it was a second grade student who called 911 and intimated the authorities about a shootout in the school complex. The study hall, where the shooting took place, had members of multiple grades, as reported by DailyMail.
Police chief Barnes said that Rupnow’s father is at one of the police facilities and he is cooperating with the authorities in the probe. “He lost someone as well. And so we’re not going to rush the information, we’ll take our time and certainly do our due diligence,” Barnes said.
