Delhi Cold Wave, GRAP-4 Reimposed News LIVE: The national capital woke up to ‘severe’ air quality today, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 426 as of 9 am, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This comes after the Centre’s air quality panel for Delhi-NCR reimposed Stage 4 restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) on Monday night, in view of the region’s air quality deteriorating to the ‘severe’ category.

Schools closed: Schools for senior students, except for those in Class X and XII, will transition to a hybrid mode of learning to minimize outdoor exposure. Adverse meteorological conditions, including very low wind speed, are said to have pushed the AQI from moderate last week to severe on Tuesday. An official statement revealed that Delhi’s AQI breached the 400 mark at 10 pm on Monday due to unfavourable meteorological conditions and calm winds.

On the political front: With the Delhi Assembly elections just a couple of months away, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal addressed a gathering in Hari Nagar market on Monday evening. During his padyatra in the Badarpur constituency, his message was primarily directed at women. “I am putting all the women here on duty to tell all the women to vote for AAP. They should tell their men too. I always say women are smarter than men…The men vote for BJP sometimes,” he said.
