Sharmila Tagore speaks about her illustrious career in fourth edition of SCREEN Live

Legendary actress Sharmila Tagore has dedicated an impressive 65 years to the film industry with a diverse and rich filmography. During her appearance at SCREEN Live, the iconic Kashmir Ki Kali star revealed a treasure trove of untold stories from both her personal and professional life, captivating the audience with her charm and humour.

This was the first time a SCREEN session was held in Delhi, with past sessions being organized in Mumbai. The overwhelming reaction from the crowd made it clear that this memorable session should be shared with a wider audience. To that end, we are thrilled to bring it to your SCREEN. The session will be available for viewing on the YouTube channels of SCREEN at 8 pm on Tuesday. The SCREEN LIVE event was presented by Lenskart with grocery partners Milkbasket and fashion partner Mirraw.

During the session, Sharmila spoke about her concerns regarding the skyrocketing star fees and the growing costs of entourages. She pointed out how big-ticket films are becoming top-heavy and how actors, immersed in their own bubbles, are drifting further from reality. Sharmila also reflected on her experiences working with the legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray, sharing how her time spent with him deepened her understanding of both cinema and life. Additionally, she opened up about her tenure as the chairperson of the CBFC and her views on censorship.

Since its inception in 1951, SCREEN has been at the forefront of Indian entertainment journalism. The magazine made a spectacular return in its digital form in October this year. It saw saw Shraddha Kapoor on the cover. Vijay Varma and Rajkummar Rao also grace the occasion as part of the Creator X Creator segment. The second edition of SCREEN Live saw a star-studded attendance, with actors Tamannaah Bhatia, Jimmy Shergill, and Avinash Tiwary from Sikandar Ka Muqaddar talking about their journey in the film industry. The third edition of SCREEN was an emotional one, featuring the Deol brothers—Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol—who spoke candidly about their careers, their return to films, and how they’ve managed to win back the hearts of audiences with their performances in Gadar 2 and Animal, respectively.
