Travis Head tops the scoring list so far in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, scoring 409 runs in five innings. He has scored two centuries and one half-century this series, his best score of 152 coming in Brisbane, and has been batting with an average of 81.80 and a strike rate of 94.23.
The Indian bowlers still don’t seem to have an answer for the Travis Head problem as the fourth Test of the India vs Australia series is just around the corner in Melbourne. Travis Head has scored most of his runs against India’s most attacking bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah, both who have dismissed the Australian batter twice.
Travis Head has particularly enjoyed batting against Mohammed Siraj, scoring 90 of his 409 in 82 of the deliveries he has faced of the fiery Indian bowler. Siraj’s aggression and pace seemed to do little work against Head as even a scuffle out in the middle didn’t seem to faze the batsman from Adelaide.
Jasprit Bumrah has been India’s go to man this entire series, getting the better of the batsmen on 21 occasions, bowling with an average of 10.90 and an economy of 2.60. He has led the bowling unit in every match, but Travis Head has made easy work of the Indian bowler. He has scored 83 against Bumrah out of the 91 balls he has faced of his, and getting dismissed by him on two occasions. He has scored the same number of runs against Harshit Rana, who made his international debut Down Under earlier this year. But these runs have come in 58 deliveries, though he has managed to get him out on one occasion.
Travis Head has always enjoyed his time out in the middle with India on the other side. He has played 13 matches against India in Test cricket, and has scored 1124 runs in 23 innings, with an average of 51.09, which is his highest average against an opponent.
