IND vs AUS: Here’s how Jasprit Bumrah has troubled Australia’s top seven batters in BGT

India’s go-to player in this year’s Border Gavaskar Trophy has been Jasprit Bumrah. He has constantly troubled the Australian batting line-up, sitting atop this series with 21 wickets while bowling with an average of 10.90. He has picked up two five-wicket hauls this series, with the best figure of 6/76 in Brisbane, he is followed by Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc who has 14 wickets to his name with an average of 22.57.

Jasprit Bumrah has troubled the top seven of the Australian batting, the opening pair of Usman Khwaja and Nathan McSweeney being on the receiving end of it the most. Usman Khwaja has managed to get 17 runs of the 71 balls he has faced Bumrah, while his partner Nathan McSweeney has managed 15 off 66, both being dismissed by the Indian bowler four times.

Steve Smith has faced Bumrah 54 times and has scored 20 runs off him, as the Indian standout pipped Steve Smith thrice. In terms of scoring runs, Marnus Labuschagne seemed to have been struggling the most, as he faced 72 deliveries from Bumrah, but managed to score just six runs, getting out twice.

Travis Head seemed to be the best of the lot, as Australia’s highest run scorer this series has scored 83 runs against Bumrah, getting out to him just twice. While even Marnus has fallen to Bumrah just twice, his scores against him make the struggle evident.

Alex Carey and Mitchel Marsh have fallen victim to Bumrah’s carnage just once, off the 30 and 47 balls they faced respectively.

Bumrah has been lethal for India this series, and India will be hoping to provide more support from all aspects as the fourth India vs Australia Test begins on Boxing Day, December 26, in Melbourne.
