In 2014, Prashanth Neel made an impressive debut with the Kannada film, Ugramm, starring Sriimurali and Hariprriya. Ten years later, he remade the Kannada film as his Telugu debut, Salaar, starring Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Before the release of Salaar, when asked about why he decided to helm this movie after the blockbuster success of the two KGF films, Prashanth said, “I wanted to fill the theatres and make more people see that story.” On the first year anniversary of the release of Salaar, Prashanth was once again asked in a special interview if that wish was fulfilled. He said, “Honestly, I am not completely happy yet.”

Elaborating on why he believes his vision for Salaar wasn’t properly materialised, Prashanth said, “I am a little disappointed with how much effort I put in to the first part, and… well, I don’t know if I was complacent coming off KGF 2. However, ever since the release of Salaar, I decided to make Salaar 2 into one of my best movies.”
Sharing his confidence in his ability to deliver on his promise, the filmmaker added, “The writing that I’ve put into the film is probably one of my best works. I am going to make up for it more than I can imagine, and even more than the audience are imagining right now. Very few things in my life makes me this confident. Salaar 2 is unquestionably my best work.”
Although the movie hasn’t gone on floors yet, Salaar 2 is set to bring back the principal cast of the original, including Prabhas, Prithviraj, Eswari Rao, Shruti Haasan, Bobby Simha, and Jagapathi Babu.
Meanwhile, Prabhas, who was last seen in Kalki 2898 AD, is currently working in Raja Saab, and will next work in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit. After Salaar 2, Prashanth Neel will move on to Jr NTR’s next, which is said to be a period film.
