THE Maharashtra Congress has urged Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu to rethink their decision to support Modi Government after the ”insulting” remarks by Union Home Minister Amit Shah against Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
”The remarks the Union Home Minister has made, and that too, in Parliament, against the architect of our Constitution are unacceptable to us. The entire country is shocked by the insulting remarks. Not only has Shah made the insulting remarks against the icon of India, but the BJP shamelessly went all out to defend him, drag the Congress into it, and tried to save its skin. BJP knows that its leader has made one of the biggest blunders and it will boomerang….” said Congress spokesperson Gopal Tiwari said.
Tiwari said Congress wants to know whether Nitish Kumar and Naidu still want to support the BJP government at the Centre despite the disparaging remarks against India’s national hero.
”Both Nitish Kumar and Naidu should tell the country whether such an insult to the leader is acceptable to them. In the light of such disrespect to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, both Nitish Kumar and Naidu should rethink their decision to support to such a government at the Centre..,” he said.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party staged a strong protest at the Dr Ambedkar statue in Pune on Saturday against Home Minister Amit Shah’s speech in Parliament about Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. AAP demanded that Shah resign from his post. Mukund Kirdat, Pune city chief of AAP, said, ”Babasaheb is not less than God for this country. One don’t know about ‘heaven’ after death, but it would have been “hell” for the oppressed, deprived, downtrodden, poor, Dalit and women in India in absence of Babasaheb and his Constitution. The party said India will not tolerate insults to Babasaheb.”
