Calling AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s announcement that registration for the party’s schemes for women and the elderly a “bundle of lies”, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj Sunday said people would not fall for it anymore.
Attacking Kejriwal over the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana, Swaraj told mediapersons, “Kejriwal promised Rs 2,100 per month for women. But even before the Lok Sabha polls, he announced Rs 1,000 per month for women, filled out forms, and didn’t disburse a single rupee. He had announced a similar scheme in Punjab in 2022, but until the end of December 2024, no woman in Punjab has received any money in her account.”
“Women’s respect is just an election gimmick for AAP. Kejriwal should answer why his private secretary, at his residence, physically assaulted MP Swati Maliwal and why he maintained silence… The women of Delhi are well aware of Kejriwal’s deceit,” she added.
On the Sanjeevani Yojana — which promises free treatment to all Delhi voters over the age of 60 in government and private hospitals — Swaraj questioned why the Delhi government hadn’t adopted the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat scheme. “He (Kejriwal) hasn’t implemented Ayushman Bharat due to his political vendetta. If he couldn’t do justice to senior citizens with this scheme, how can he claim to ensure their welfare now?” she asked.
The Ayushman Bharat scheme provides financial protection for secondary and tertiary healthcare to economically vulnerable families.
