US President-elect Donald Trump on Sunday announced the appointment of Sriram Krishnan, an aide of billionaire Elon Musk and Microsoft’s ex-employee, as the Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Trump, in a post on his social media platform Truth Social said, “Sriram Krishnan will focus on ensuring continued American leadership in AI and help shape and coordinate AI policy across Government, including working with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.”
According to Krishnan’s LinkedIn profile, he has worked with Microsoft, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter (X), and most recently as a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z).
Krishnan, who started his career as a founding member of Windows Azure at Microsoft, will be working closely with ex-PayPal COO David Sacks, who was recently appointed as the White House Artificial Intelligence and Crypto Czar in his new administration.
Responding to Trump’s announcement, Krishnan in a post on X, wrote, “I’m honored to be able to serve our country and ensure continued American leadership in AI.Thank you, Donald Trump, for this opportunity.”

“We heartily congratulate Sriram Krishnan and are delighted that he has been appointed by President-elect Donald Trump as Senior Policy Advisor in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy,” said Indiaspora’s executive director Sanjeev Joshipura, as quoted by PTI.
According to reports, the Indian-origin entrepreneur Sriram Krishnan has had a close relationship with Elon Musk, with whom he worked when the latter took over Twitter (now X) in 2022.
Musk is also leading the Department of Government Efficiency, a policy group to recommend government restructuring and cuts to federal spending, along side Vivek Ramaswamy.
