PM Modi at Rozgar Mela: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hailed the central government’s efforts to provide ‘lakhs of government jobs in the last 1.5 years’. Addressing a Rozgar Mela virtually on Monday, PM Modi said that his government set a “record” by giving permanent government jobs to almost 10 lakh people in the course of the last 18 months.
“There is a campaign going on to provide government jobs in various ministries, departments and institutions of the country. Today also, more than 71,000 youths have been given appointment letters,” he said.
“In the last 1-1.5 years, almost 10 lakh youths have been given permanent government jobs by our government. This is a very big record in itself. In the tenure of any previous government, youths have not got permanent government jobs,” the prime minister added.
Speaking about his trip to Kuwait, PM Modi said, “I have returned from Kuwait late last night. There I had a long meeting with the youth and professionals of India. Now after coming here, my first program is being held with the youth of the country. It is a very pleasant occasion that today a new beginning of life is taking place for thousands of youth of the country. Your dream of many years has come true. The hard work of many years has been successful.”
The new recruits, selected from across the country, will be joining departments like Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Posts, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services, among others, said the PIB release.
The event was held on Monday in 45 locations across the country.
Speaking at the event, Union minister Jitendra Singh said over 29 per cent of the 71,000 recruited came from the OBC category. The backward classes recruitment has seen a 27 per cent rise under the Modi government compared to the UPA’s, he said.
The Schedules Castes and Scheduled Tribes accounted for 15.8 and 9.6 respectively for Monday’s recruitments, Singh added.
