Veteran filmmaker Shyam Benegal passed away at Wockhardt hospital in Mumbai on Monday. He was 90.
Benegal’s daughter Pia Benegal confirmed the news with indianexpress.com. She said, “It is true. Mr Shyam Benegal passed away this evening at 6:30 pm.”
Shyam Benegal was best known for helming films like Ankur (1973), Nishant (1975), Manthan (1976), Bhumika (1977), Mammo (1994), Sardari Begum (1996) and Zubeidaa (2001), among others.
