Tabu epitomises grace and all things beautiful on and off the screen. But it turns out there are still some things on her wishlist. So, when asked about a habit she would like to adopt, she said, “Exercising regularly and waking up at 5 a.m. I don’t know why 5 a.m., though.”
The Crew actor also shared that she often wonders how everyone else sleeps well on planes while she doesn’t. What about her nighttime routine? “I go and say goodnight to my pet. I cuddle him, wake him up from his sleep, and pinch his cheek. And then he growls at me,” Tabu told The Nod.
If waking up early is on your list, too, here’s a ready reckoner.
Experts validate that having and following a morning routine helps. “It is of utmost importance to have a consistent sleep schedule — a set time to go to bed. This ensures we get adequate sleep and wake up on time. Getting up early also helps to have a meaningful morning. This can only happen if we sleep early,” Dr Sudhir Kumar, consultant neurologist, Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, said.
While the 5 AM club has come to be in the reckoning due to author Robin Sharma’s namesake bestseller, following a morning routine is said to have far-reaching benefits for one. “I would redefine the ‘5 AM Club’ as the most important habit for self-care and the first step towards self-love, which everyone should take,” said Saurabh Bothra, yoga trainer and CEO, Habuild.
According to Bothra, early mornings offer a quiet and focused time to contribute to our physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
What can help you?
Consistency is the key to building and maintaining habits. Ease into a morning routine by setting your alarm 30 minutes earlier each week and see how your body responds to the change.
During this time, you can exercise, journal, and learn something new daily. However, you don’t necessarily have to wake up at 5 am. “The goal here is to have a quiet time reserved only for yourself. And it would be best if you were serious about using this time for your growth,” said Bothra.
