The Kapoor family was going through a difficult time when Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and had to urgently leave for New York. Just a day after he left the country with wife Neetu and son Ranbir Kapoor, his mother, Krishna Raj Kapoor, passed away in Mumbai. Rishi’s daughter Riddhima recently opened up about this episode in their life and recalled how Alia, who was dating Ranbir at the time, was a pillar of strength for the family, and stood by her.
In a chat with Zoom, Riddhima recalled the time when her grandmother passed away and how Alia helped her out with the arrangements. “I still remember my dadi passed away… My dad left for treatment and the very next morning, my dadi passed away and Alia did everything. She came with me, she organised the food because at that time you can’t cook at home, so she did that. She was there. Ranbir, mom and papa had left for New York, so it was just me. She was with me throughout,” she recalled. Krishna Raj Kapoor, who was the wife of late actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor, passed away at 87 in Mumbai in 2018.
Riddhima shared that Alia is an “amazing” person who is now just as great with her mother-in-law Neetu Kapoor as well. “She is a great girl. Alia is amazing. Like how she is with my mom also now, she is just amazing, her whole family, her mom, sister, dad they are all really nice,” Riddhima said and added, “Alia is actually a very warm person and a very giving person and I say this all the time, she is a really nice human being. She does everything whole heartedly, if she wants to do something for you, she will go all out and just make sure it’s done.”
Alia and Ranbir got married in April 2022. They are now parents to a daughter named Raha. Riddhima was recently seen in Netflix’s Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives.
