The five-year-old boy who had been stuck in a 150-feet-deep borewell in Rajasthan’s Dausa area passed away Thursday despite a 57-hours-long rescue operation pulling him out.
The police said that the kid was without food or water all this while and had stopped moving. As such, the boy, Aryan, had passed away even before he was rescued from the well.
“The child was rushed to the district hospital in an ambulance that had advanced life support system but he was already dead,” the police said.
The boy had fallen into the borewell at 3.15 pm on Monday in Kalikhad village. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team had said that he was trapped between old pipes. Aryan was playing at a farm and accidentally fell into the borewell in front of his mother.
As soon as the rescue team reached there, oxygen supply was started through a pipe and a camera was placed to capture his movement.
A parallel pit was dug to reach the child. The NDRF personnel said there were myriad challenges in the operation — the water level in the area was around 160 feet, capturing any movement of the child on camera was difficult, and there were safety concerns for the staff as well.
