Three people, including a police constable, sustained burn injuries in a suspected explosion of lighter-gas recharging canister placed at a roadside food stall in a Pune on Thursday afternoon, the police said.
The incident took place around 3 pm near Gate Number 3 of Shivajinagar court.
“Initial probe suggests that the canister that was placed near the gas stove at the stall is believed to have exploded suddenly, possibly due to the heat from the stove. The cook at the stall, the owner, and a police constable who was having food there, sustained injuries,” said Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant, Pune police.
The gas canister was used to refill lighters, he said.
Victims rushed to a hospital
The victims suffered burns to face and hands and were rushed to the hospital.
“The injuries are prima facie not very serious in nature,” Inspector Sawant added.
Further details including names of the injured were awaited.
