Fans all around the world are taken aback as J Cole announced on December 10 that the upcoming Dreamville Fest in April 2025 will be the last edition of the unique show.
Dreamville revealed this news through their Instagram with the post captioned, “What a ride it’s been… We can’t thank y’all enough for all the memories we’ve shared. From the very beginning, the idea behind the fest was creating a place where our fans, the Dreamville community, could spend time together, a place where they could see themselves reflected, a place to share in experiences. Let’s run it back one more time in April!”
The festival was started as a celebration of culture, a haven for all those who wanted to consume art, break bread and get inspired together.
The first edition of the festival was announced on April 27, 2018 but due to Hurricane Florence, the event was delayed to April 6, 2019. The venue for the event was Dorothea Dix Park in North Carolina and has remained unchanged since then. The festival included artists like SZA, Big Sean, 21 Savage, Nelly, Saba and many more.

What is Dreamville?
The fest is organised by Dreamville Records, the label founded by the ‘No Role Models’ MC, back in 2009. The label facilitated the discovery and growth of various new artist such as Omen, Bass, JID, LUTE and duo Earthgang just to name a few. The label works on a philosophy of collaboration with all artists sharing many studio releases and featuring on each other’s albums. The label’s first collaborative album was Revenge of the Dreamers, released in 2014 and they also have a documentary titled ‘Revenge’, available on YouTube.
The label and its artists have had a huge impact on the Global Hip-Hop scene with many notable hits like ‘The Never Story’ by JID, 2014 Forest Hills Drive by Cole and the Earthgang trilogy Rags, Robots, Royalty. Cole has had a rollercoaster year; He first released surprise album ‘Might Delete Later’, in which he responded to Kendrick Lamar. Then after publicly apologising to Lamar in the 2024 Dreamville fest, he withdrew himself from the battle between Drake, Kendrick and himself.
Cole has also recently released an exclusive version of his platinum album ‘2014 Forest Hills Drive’ including 8 previously unreleased songs.
