Three people with links to the Goldy Brar gang have been arrested in connection with the recent bomb blasts outside a club in Gurgaon’s Sector 29, police said Friday. With this, four people have been arrested in the case.
The three people, arrested Wednesday, have been identified as Ankit (30) from Meerut, Vikas (28) from Sonipat and Vineet Malik (27) from Muzaffarnagar. “The accused are linked to the Goldy Brar gang. We arrested them from Gurgaon after tracing financial transactions in connection with the case. We are finding out more about their roles,” a senior police officer said.
The three accused, arrested in the course of an SIT investigation, were presented before a court Thursday and were remanded to six days of police custody for further interrogation. “Intensive questioning of the accused is underway, and any findings will be acted upon in accordance with the law. Gurugram Police appeals to the public to immediately report any suspicious individuals or objects spotted anywhere in Gurugram by contacting us,” said a spokesperson.
Two bombs were thrown outside the Gurgaon club around 5.15 am on December 10. Meerut resident Sachin (27), who allegedly hurled two desi bombs, was arrested from the spot by the Gurgaon Police’s Crime Branch and SWAT teams. A bomb and a pistol were also seized from him. An officer said that during interrogation, it was revealed that of the three, two were with Sachin at the time of the incident.
Two men on a stolen motorcycle had dropped Sachin at the spot, police added. Sachin was also allegedly rewarded with over Rs 1 lakh to carry out the crime.
A case was registered at DLF Sector 29 police station under various sections, including UAPA.
On Thursday, in a purported post on social media, Brar’s aide Rohit Godara had taken responsibility for the blasts saying gamblers, bookies, hawala traders and dance clubs “earning crores daily have to pay tax”.
