Pushpa 2 box office collection day 10: Pushpa 2: The Rise, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, has been dominating the box office for the last ten days. On Saturday, the film experienced a remarkable 71 per cent jump in collections, earning Rs 62.3 crore. This surge came after Allu Arjun’s arrest in connection with a tragic stampede incident that led to a woman’s death during a screening of Pushpa 2 at a Hyderabad theatre.
The film’s domestic box office collection has now reached Rs 824.5 crore, with the Hindi version contributing Rs 498.1 crore, followed by Rs 262.6 crore from Telugu, Rs 44.9 crore from Tamil, Rs 5.95 crore from Kannada, and Rs 12.95 crore from Malayalam.
On Saturday alone, Pushpa 2 collected Rs 46 crore in the Hindi belt, Rs 13 crore in Telugu, Rs 2.5 crore in Tamil, Rs 0.45 crore in Kannada, and Rs 0.35 crore in Malayalam. Notably, the Hindi version has consistently outperformed its Telugu counterpart, underscoring the makers’ efforts to promote the film across India. Promotional strategies included releasing the trailer in Patna and hosting events in cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Chennai.
Globally, Pushpa 2 has amassed Rs 1,190 crore, surpassing the lifetime domestic collection of Rs 782.2 crore set by Ram Charan and Jr. NTR’s blockbuster RRR. It is now the highest-grossing film of 2024 and is expected to generate even more revenue on Sunday.
Despite the film’s monumental success, its journey has been overshadowed by tragedy. A stampede at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad during the film’s premiere resulted in a woman’s death, leading to Allu Arjun’s arrest on Friday. He was released on Saturday after the Telangana High Court granted him a four-week interim bail. The actor spent a night at the Chanchalguda Central Jail before his release.
Speaking to the press from his home in Jubilee Hills after his release, Allu Arjun expressed his condolences, stating, “We’re extremely sorry for the family, and I will personally be there to support them in whatever way. It’s purely accidental. I was inside the theatre watching a movie with my family, and the accident happened outside. It is truly of no direct connection to me, truly accidental, purely unintentional. My love is with the family, and I’ll be there in whatever way possible.”
