Regional airline Fly91 Monday announced it was postponing the launch of its direct flights connecting Solapur to Goa and Mumbai from December 23 to the end of January.
FLY91, operated by Goa-headquartered Just Udo Aviation Private Limited, stated that the delay was primarily due to the potential for disruptions owing to fog from the end of this month to mid-January.
A media statement by FLY91 reads, “This decision has been taken, keeping in mind the fact that Solapur is a brand new airport with visual flight rules and it’s always prudent to start operations to any new airfield post this period. FLY91 was anticipating favorable conditions and completion of all regulatory processes much earlier. All the concerned authorities have been working towards getting the final approvals and necessary refueling infrastructure in place… the current status we believe it’s in the best interest of passengers that we start operations once the fog period is over. FLY91 stays committed to the people of Solapur and will be commencing flights between Solapur and Mumbai as well as Solapur and Goa. The exact date of start of operations will be decided shortly and flights will be accordingly opened for sale.”
Solapur is a major textile and industrial hub in Maharashtra. The addition of these two new routes will bring the total number of domestic destinations served by FLY91 to nine. Furthermore, as per official information, with the inclusion of Solapur, FLY91 will now serve five destinations in Maharashtra: Pune, Mumbai, Solapur, Jalgaon, and Sindhudurg.
