Honey Singh has lent his voice and rap skills to songs for numerous Bollywood celebrities throughout his career. However, for Salman Khan’s film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, the actor didn’t just want Honey to rap for a song but also requested him to feature in its music video. In Honey’s recently released documentary, Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous, he opens up about how Salman approached him for the song “Let’s Dance Chotu Motu”.
In the documentary, Honey can be seen saying, “Salman Khan has sent me this song. This song is made, and he wants me to rap in it. He is shooting for the song in the next two days. I have gotten this opportunity to sing this song, and he has also asked me if I want to rap in this song. So, we will see.”
The documentary then shows visuals of Honey Singh listening to the song and realizing that it needed a rap to elevate its vibe. “We will have to come up with a rap for the song,” he says, followed by scenes of Honey and his team brainstorming and creating the rap’s lyrics on the spot.
Salman Khan also makes an appearance in the documentary, explaining why he thought Honey Singh was the perfect choice for the song. “I was shooting for Bhaijaan in Hyderabad, and I had this thought, so I gave it to Honey. He went to the studio, and in half an hour, he finished the rap. Then I requested Honey to come and be in the song with us. It’s a really cool song for kids.”
Directed by Mozez Singh, Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous delves into the rapper’s struggles with mental health and substance abuse while chronicling his journey toward a comeback. The film premiered on Netflix on December 20.
