After protesters vandalized Allu Arjun’s Jubilee Hills residence in Hyderabad on Sunday, the Pushpa 2 actor’s father, Allu Aravind, addressed the media, revealing that the offenders have been taken into police custody and a case have been filed against them.
Speaking to the press outside Jubilee Hills following the incident, Allu Aravind said, “Everyone has seen what happened at our house today. But it is time for us to act accordingly. Now is not the right time for us to react to anything. The police have taken in the offenders and filed a case against them. The police are ready to take away anyone else who comes here to create a ruckus. No one should encourage incidents like these.”
He added, “But I will not react just because the media is here. Now is the time to practice restraint. The law will take its own course.”
On Sunday, a group of men, reportedly members of the OU JAC (Joint Action Committee of Osmania University students), stormed Allu Arjun’s residence. Videos from the incident showed protesters scaling the compound walls, pelting stones, throwing tomatoes, and breaking flower pots placed on the premises. A heated confrontation ensued between the protesters and the security personnel stationed at the house.
The protesters were demanding justice for Revathi, a woman who tragically lost her life in a stampede during screening of Pushpa 2 at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre. The incident occurred when Allu Arjun, accompanied by his family and co-star Rashmika Mandanna, visited the theatre, which led to overcrowding and chaos. Revathi’s son was also injured in the stampede and remains hospitalized.
Despite the actor and the Pushpa 2 team pledging their support to the bereaved family and promising to cover the medical expenses, the protesters expressed their anger by vandalizing Allu Arjun’s home. A case had already been filed against the actor and the theatre management following the tragedy. Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13 and later released on bail on December 14.
