A 21-year-old woman was arrested after she chopped off a man’s genitals and later tried to slash her wrist with the same weapon on Sunday evening in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar.
Vyom Bindal, Circle Officer, Civil Lines police station, said they received information about the incident at around 4.30 pm on Sunday. The girl also sustained a hand injury during the altercation, he said, adding that both individuals were admitted to the district hospital.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the man and the woman are residents of Charthawal village in Kulhedi, and were in a relationship for eight years, the officer said.
The woman reportedly told the police that the man had fixed his wedding with another person. “I was upset over it, so I asked him to meet me for the last time and he agreed. During the meeting, I got angry and attacked his private parts and later tried to harm myself,” she told the police, Bindal said.
Investigators are still ascertaining the details of the crime which allegedly occurred in the Civil Lines area. While the woman said it happened inside a hotel room, the man claims she attacked him in a car. “We are trying to probe the matter. The man is currently under treatment,” the officer said.
