Apple iPhones are known to be reliable and long-lasting as the company offers at least five years of major operating system upgrades or even more in some cases. If you are currently thinking of purchasing an older iPhone model and are worried about its software support, here is a comprehensive guide on the same, highlighting all the iPhones that will be eligible for the iOS 19 update.
If you have an iPhone that is eligible for an iOS 18 update, then the device is most likely to support iOS 19, says a report by digital publication iPhoneSoft, indicating that over 30 different iPhones will likely support the OS. This includes the upcoming iPhone 17 series and the iPhone SE 4 (which might be called the iPhone 16e).
However, just like the iOS 18 update, in which Apple Intelligence was limited to select iPhone models, some key features might be limited to newer models. This could be especially true for features that require special hardware or processing power.
Hence, although the iPhone XR, launched back in 2018, might receive the iOS 19 update, the overall experience might not be similar to the latest iPhone 17 Pro Max running on iOS 19. The same also applies to iPads, where almost all the iPads running on iPadOS 18 are likely to be eligible for the iPadOS 19 update.
Apple will give us the first glimpse of the iOS 19 update at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025 which is likely to take place in June. The stable version may be launched in October along with the launch of the iPhone 17 series, which is likely to include four models – iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
